The Road Less Travelled: Dumplings Edition

Robert Frost famously wrote, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,” a line which has no doubt  stuck in the minds of many a participant of 10th grade English. That’s not to say it doesn’t have a robust meaning, though - taking the less obvious or not-as-expected route can change some part of you that you didn’t know existed, altering your state in a way you never thought possible.

I’m here to tell you about one such route. It stands to reason that you have never sat in your local coffee shop and thought to yourself, “Hmm, I’m enjoying my cafe au Don Julio with my bear claw donut, but if only I had a dumpling to pair this with.” However, this unexpected pairing is nothing to be scoffed at. 

I have often found myself calming down at the end of a long day with a standard glazed donut, powdered sugar dumpling, and a white wine. Sometimes I even sprinkle some of the sugar into the wine for a little kick. Strange, perhaps, but you’ll never know unless you try. Thus, also, to dumplings, donuts, and alcohol.

I hope to have opened your mind to a new style of extravagant living and a new world of flavor. I’ll see you on the other side, friends, and I’ll have my cherry-filled donut, glazed dumpling, and vodka with me.
